"Here we have a chest-pressing 'n' atmospherically unsettling slab of bass ribbed walled noise, and a droned-out version of the same track. With the ‘main’ track sliding just under the twenty-nine-minute mark, and the remix hitting just under the ten-minute mark.

This is a digital download that appeared on Poland’s Gates Of Hypnos. Artwork wise the cover features a black, purple, and white illustration of what looks like a curled-up snake with a bone head. The release can be found here.

The first/ main track “Mellow” is from Bar Montenegro-based sound/ visual artists Edo Žuđelović- and I’m presuming this must be one of his tries at walled noise, as the other work of his I’ve found online seems to be more in the abstract electronica/ rhythmic format. And I must say he’s done an impressive job here. The ‘wall’ is a densely compacted blend of buffeting bass judders and distant rattling static. Weaved through this you can make out hints of murky rumble, and this sort of haunting knocking/ rushing element- which might be field recordings of water, but you can never clearly define it. As the track progresses, we do certainly seem to get more pressing and bothersome subtones added to the mass, and towards the end it feels like the fibres of the ‘wall’ are starting to be pulled apart.

The second remix is created by Poland Olsztyn-based Olion. This comes in at the nine-minute and forty-seven-second mark, and really is a hollowed-out the wall. We open with a very pared back rolling static crispness, as the track progresses more layers of crisp weave 'n' muffled drone appear- and right buried at the back is this eerier almost choral dark ambient hover, which you can just make out. In its last few minutes, a more pronounced & semi-industrialized hover appears, but it’s still ghostly and wonky in its attack

In finishing this release really is the polar opposite of its title- as the first track rolls you out within dense and pressing bass weight, while the remix drifts you off into subtle ANW meets creepy drone terrority. I most certainly hope Žuđelović is planning some more ‘wall’ noise, as the main track is something most worthy!.
